Restoration & Re-use

An important target for us is to reduce our carbon footprint 50% by 2020, which we started to work towards in 2010. Alongside hitting our yearly energy use reductions, we’re in the process of adding insulation and double/secondary glazing around the building.

Another area of huge impact during any building works is energy and transport which goes into the new materials used. So, as far as possible, we are saving and re-using materials across the building.  We’ve had a store of doors, windows, bollards and bricks for years, and these are finally seeing the light of day.

Brickwork around the replaced window is all re-used rather than new.

Gilbert Ash, our building contractors, are keeping careful stocks of items they remove during demolition, for replacement in later building.
